About Adrian Scott

Adrian has been a teacher in public and private schools in Western Australia and Queensland for over 35 years. He began his teaching career in the Pilbara region in northern WA.

He has taught all years from K-12 as a music teacher and has held leadership positions as a Head of Department, Head of Middle School, Deputy Principal and has been a Principal in two independent schools.

His most recent school catered for over 1500 students and included a Trade Training Centre and Online School. This contrasted with his first principalship in a regional school catering for 500 students.

Education

Adrian has a Master of Educational Leadership, Bachelor of Education, Diploma of Teaching and is an accredited growth coach.

He is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a member of the Australian Council of Company Directors and Australian Council of Educational Leaders.

  • Whether for the experienced executive or the aspirational leader, a coaching program boosts confidence, capabilities, and performance. A coaching program must be tailored to individual or team with the goals and scope of the program clearly established and articulated before the program begins. The purpose of the program may vary from leadership coaching, to business, or personal life coaching. Programs offered aim to develop a culture of leadership, openness, creativity, and continuous improvement.

  • The key purpose of strategic planning is to set overall goals for your organisation and develop a plan to achieve them. It involves stepping back from your daily operations and engaging with the stake holders to ask where the organisation is headed and what priorities should be the focus for the future.

    Facilitation usually includes planning the process, building the plan, shaping it into written form and guiding the implementation.

  • Having led large, people focussed organisations, Adrian has considerable experience in this area. He provides a mediation option allowing management of conflict that using an impartial person to help team members to resolve their disagreements. The purpose is to ease workplace tensions before they escalate into something more damaging. It differs from disciplinary and grievance procedures by offering a more informal and flexible approach that hopefully prevents an escalation.

  • Adrian is experienced in identifying the scope and specific requirements of a project and the practice of applying knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to create a plan to solve a problem or implement a project. He is experienced in identifying and leading a team to determine the goal, establish a timeline, identify and involve key stakeholders and determine what budget will be required to achieve a successful result.

  • Adrian’s experience is in the education arena where he has been involved in recruitment for senior leadership positions. He can provide a range of services in this capacity, preparing job advertisements and descriptions, filtering applications, preparing interview questions, or simply providing an independent observer on the interview panel.

  • These can, of course, be included as part of a coaching program and are increasingly valued in organisational leadership. Soft skills are a way of being, are part of having well developed emotional intelligence and are visible in the way the leader communicates, actively listens, displays empathy, and makes considered decisions. It is important to realise that soft skills are not simply values, they are displayed through relationships that embody trust and respect.
